Artificial Christmas trees

Artificial Christmas trees

An explanation of the varieties of artificial Christmas trees, ranges and icons.

Selecting an artificial Christmas tree for the festive season can be a stressful experience, especially when you consider the number of trees available, the material they are manufactured from, the size of tree required and the style and shape that will suit your home. All this adds to a stressful buying experience. However by deciding to purchase your tree online then you really are minimising the stress of buying.

We have put this page together to help you, the customer, make an informed choice when selecting and purchasing your Christmas tree online. The guide below outlines the ins and outs of all of the available varieties of artificial Christmas trees on our site, the materials used in these trees and  it also describes the meanings of the icons used in our product descriptions.

PE Artificial Christmas Trees

Realistic PE moulded artificial Christmas trees from the Christmas Tree Company are virtually indecipherable from a natural, living tree in appearance, colour, and the ambience it lends to the home around the Christmas season. Convenient, affordable, and endlessly beautiful, PE moulded artificial Christmas trees use modern innovation to deliver timeless charm. Appearance is the most important aspect of any Christmas tree. Just like natural living trees, PE artificial Christmas trees are supplied in a variety of shapes, sizes, and hues.

Some are deep frosty green or green/blue and others are bright vibrant green, all are highly realistic and life-like, so much so that I challenge anyone to tell the difference between a PE tree and a real, cut tree from across the average sized room.

But what exactly is a PE artificial tree made from? Polyethylene better known as PE is a high grade of plastic used in the manufacture of our trees. PE artificial Christmas trees are ultra realistic and beautiful, manufactured with very high quality material and modelled from actual real Christmas tree branches which are used as ‘forms’ to create the tree and branch mould. The process involves the plastic being injected directly into a tree branch mould, this mould is directly shaped in the form of a real tree branch, and this helps to create our very realistic artificial Christmas trees.

PE made artificial tree branches tend to have more body than their PVC cousins, they are more pliable and the needles on the branches actually look, feel and act like a real tree needle. Unless you are up close and personal with a PE Artificial Christmas tree you would actually find it incredibly difficult to distinguish a difference between that and an actual ‘real tree’. They even have an ‘uneven’ 3-D appearance which is definitely pleasing to the eye and adds character and ultra realism to the tree; the most obvious difference between that and a real tree is the lack of pine scent.

Some examples of our PE trees are the ever popular Kelso Pine Kelso Pine artificial Christmas tree and the highly attractive Fraser Fir artificial tree. To view our complete range, pleas follow this link ‘artificial Christmas trees’.

PVC Artificial Christmas Trees

PolyVinyl Chloride or PVC is also commonly known as vinyl. This is a lightweight and durable synthetic polymer material (or resin), formed by combining ethylene derived from petroleum, natural gas, or coal and chlorine. This type of plastic can be found in numerous everyday products from building construction, interior furnishings, packaging, office supplies, electronics and appliances to medical equipment and vehicle parts to name just a few. Its wide range of use is partly down to the fact that it is durable and fire-resistant making it an ideal material for the in the construction artificial Christmas trees.

The artificial Christmas trees we purchase in the UK market utilise an extremely high quality PVC for the durability required to help an artificial tree last 10 or more years whilst retaining its colour and shape. You can also rest safe in the knowledge that these modern manufactured artificial trees are made with a type of PVC that is chemically and mechanically stable and is safe to use, and believe it or not, can actually be kinder to the environment (in the long term) than a natural ‘cut’ Christmas tree. Although not as realistic as the PE trees, these trees are still beautiful and realistic in their own right.

PE/PVC Artificial Christmas Trees

Many trees on the market feature a blend of both PE and PVC based needles. The tips of the branches are usually made from PE, as this is the more expensive and realistic looking material. The remainder of the branch is then made up using PVC to bulk out the branch and create a semi-realistic finish. The advantage of this construction method is that the buyer receives a tree that is more realistic than the average PVC tree without the additional cost that PE can add to a tree.

To see an example of this type of tree, please take a look at the Highland Spruce blue/green deluxe and the Stelton green artificial tree, these are both fantastic example of the kind of high quality and realistic finish that can be achieved with blending PE and PVC branches.

Pre Lit Artificial Christmas Trees

Nothing warms up the home and the heart quite like the glow of a Pre Lit Christmas tree. Pre Lit Christmas trees give you all the peace and ambience without any of the hassle or stress associated with adding lights to the tree. No more worry of which blown bulb is keeping the whole strand dark. No more tangled wires when you take the tree out of the box, and definatly no more endlessly circling the tree to place and adjust the lights into position.

A Pre Lit artificial Christmas tree comes beautifully lit and ready to go from the moment it arrives at your home. The lights are built into the tree itself, so the bulbs are tastefully arranged, and the tree can be stored without any need for removing the lights. This also protects the wires from breakage, making the built-in lighting elements of a Pre Lit Christmas tree more durable and long-lasting than strands of tree lights.

Pre Lit Christmas trees make the welcoming image of a glowing Christmas tree easier than ever to set up. The less time you spend untangling strands of lights, the more time you’ll have to sit back, enjoy the ambience of your pre-lit Christmas tree, and reflect on the holiday season.

All our Pre Lit artificial trees come complete with warm white LEDs with dimmer switches enabling you to adjust the brightness of the bulb. And being LED, you can be assured that these lights will continue to function for many years using only the minimum of electricity to power them.

Artificial Christmas trees may be an especially good choice if there’s an issue with allergies to actual Christmas trees. But I think that especially the older generation doesn’t quite appreciate them as much as the real trees.
